Following a night of intense rainfall from September 16 to early September 17, many streets in the city have become severely flooded, with water levels reaching up to 60 centimeters in some areas.

Over the past three days, persistent rain has overwhelmed the drainage systems in low-lying areas, making it difficult for residents to navigate. Streets such as Dương Đình Nghệ, Lê Quang Đạo, and Thái Hà have reported significant flooding, with vehicles struggling to pass through submerged roads. The Hanoi Drainage Company has identified several critical points of flooding, including Dương Đình Nghệ near the Keangnam building and areas surrounding Mỹ Đình Stadium.

As of 6 AM on September 17, rainfall measurements indicated over 100 mm in various locations, with Hai Bà Trưng recording approximately 183 mm. Many commuters were forced to abandon their vehicles and wade through the water, while traffic rescue teams worked tirelessly to assist those stranded.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, satellite imagery and radar data indicate that convective clouds are forming and expanding over areas such as Dương Nội, An Khánh, and Hà Đông. These clouds are expected to move slowly from the southeast to the northwest, bringing rain and thunderstorms to nearby districts, including Mỹ Đức and Chương Mỹ, within the next couple of hours. Residents should remain cautious as the storms may produce strong winds, lightning, and potential tornadoes.
