Hanoi is currently facing significant flooding, with reports indicating that water levels in some areas have risen to nearly one meter. The heavy rains, which began overnight and continued into the morning, have led to widespread inundation, particularly in the western districts of the city.

As of 10 AM today, many streets in western Hanoi, such as Cầu Cốc, are submerged, forcing residents to use boats for transportation. Rainfall has exceeded 150 mm in several locations, with some areas recording over 400 mm in just four days. The persistent downpour has resulted in water entering homes and businesses, disrupting daily life for many.

The Hanoi Construction Department has reported that the flooding is primarily due to continuous rainfall since September 14, with cumulative rainfall in some areas exceeding 500 mm. The high water levels in the rivers, including the Nhuệ and Bùi rivers, have reached warning levels, affecting over 370 households in the outskirts of the city.

In response to the flooding, 36 pumping stations have been activated to alleviate the water levels across the city. However, the ongoing rain continues to challenge the drainage systems, leading to further complications. The authorities have also restricted vehicle movement in several flooded areas to ensure safety.

As the situation develops, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued warnings for continued rain and thunderstorms, urging residents to remain vigilant. The forecast predicts that rainfall may continue throughout the day, with localized areas experiencing even heavier precipitation.
