Hanoi is currently facing significant flooding due to a series of heavy rainfalls that have accumulated over 400 mm since September 14. The city's Department of Construction reported that some areas have received more than 500 mm of rain, leading to severe disruptions in both urban and suburban areas.

As of today, many neighborhoods, particularly in the west and south of the city, are inundated. Reports indicate that rainfall exceeded 150 mm in several locations overnight, causing water levels to rise rapidly. In areas like Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh, the rain was less intense, and water receded quickly, but in other districts, residents have had to navigate flooded streets using boats.

Schools have shifted to online learning, and many workers are either taking the day off or working from home due to the flooding. The meteorological agency has issued multiple warnings about continued thunderstorms and heavy rain throughout the day, with forecasts predicting an additional 30-60 mm of rain, and localized areas could see over 100 mm.

Flooding has particularly affected over 370 households in the outskirts, with many residents forced to evacuate. The water levels in the Bui and Tich rivers have surpassed warning levels, further complicating drainage efforts. In response, 36 pumping stations have been activated across the city to manage the water levels.

The Department of Construction has restricted vehicle movement in several flooded areas to ensure safety. Traffic has been severely disrupted, with major roads submerged and causing long delays.

As the rain continues, authorities are urging residents to remain cautious and prepared for further flooding. The situation is being monitored closely, and updates will be provided as conditions evolve.
