Warning of Flash Floods and Landslides in Four Provinces

Meteorological authorities have raised alarms about the risk of flash floods and landslides in several districts of Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Khanh Hoa, and Lam Dong due to significant rainfall. The warning comes as these regions have already experienced heavy downpours, with some areas recording rainfall exceeding 90mm.

As of 4:30 PM on September 10, 2026, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported that the rainfall over the past four hours has been substantial, with specific measurement stations recording 49.4mm in Thai Nguyen and 97.8mm in Khanh Hoa. The soil moisture levels in some areas have reached saturation, indicating a high risk of landslides.

In the next six hours, continued rainfall is expected, with accumulations ranging from 20 to 50mm in Thai Nguyen and Phu Tho, and between 30 to 60mm in Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong. The forecast suggests that localized areas may see even higher amounts, increasing the likelihood of flash floods in smaller rivers and landslides on steep slopes.

The risk level for natural disasters due to these conditions has been classified as level 1, indicating a low but significant threat. Flash floods and landslides can severely impact the environment, disrupt local traffic, and damage infrastructure, leading to economic losses and affecting social activities.
