The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a warning for heavy rain in Northern and North Central Vietnam from August 6 to the morning of August 7. The forecast indicates widespread rain, with some areas potentially experiencing rainfall exceeding 180mm.

As of the morning of August 6, regions in the North and Thanh Hoa province have already recorded substantial rainfall, with certain monitoring stations reporting over 100mm. For instance, Bon Phang station in Son La recorded 139.2mm, while Ngoc Son in Phu Tho reported 123.2mm, and Phu Son 1 in Thanh Hoa noted 114mm.

From August 6 to the morning of August 7, the forecast predicts moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Northern and North Central regions, with expected rainfall ranging from 30 to 60mm. Some areas may see rainfall exceeding 180mm, raising concerns about flash floods and landslides, especially in mountainous and low-lying areas.

Additionally, the Central Highlands and southeastern regions are expected to experience scattered thunderstorms and rainfall between 15 to 30mm, with some areas potentially exceeding 80mm. There is a risk of strong winds, lightning, and hail during thunderstorms. The disaster risk level due to heavy rain and related phenomena has been classified as level 1.

Authorities have warned that heavy rainfall could lead to flooding in low-lying urban areas and industrial zones, as well as flash floods in small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.
