The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has reported that a tropical depression located around 19.5 degrees North and 110.3 degrees East, near Hainan Island in China, is expected to intensify into Typhoon No. 5 within the next 24 hours.

As of 1 PM on August 31, the maximum wind speed near the center of the tropical depression was recorded at 50-61 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 9. The depression is currently moving southward at approximately 15 km/h.

The forecast indicates that within 24 hours, the tropical depression will shift eastward at a speed of 15-20 km/h and is likely to develop into Typhoon No. 5. By 1 PM on September 1, the center of the typhoon is expected to be located at about 19.6 degrees North and 114.2 degrees East, over the northern waters of the East Sea. The maximum wind speed near the typhoon's center is anticipated to reach level 8, with gusts up to level 10.

The dangerous area is expected to be north of latitude 18 degrees North, from longitude 109.5 to 115.5 degrees East, with a disaster risk level classified as level 3 for the northern waters of the East Sea.

Looking ahead to the next 48 hours, the typhoon is expected to continue moving northeast at a speed of 15-20 km/h, maintaining a maximum wind speed of level 8 and gusts up to level 10. By 1 PM on September 2, the center of the typhoon is forecasted to be located at approximately 21.7 degrees North and 117 degrees East, over the northeastern waters of the East Sea.

From 48 to 72 hours after that, the storm is expected to weaken and revert to a tropical depression.

Regarding the impacts of the tropical depression/typhoon, strong winds of levels 6-7 with gusts of 8-9 are anticipated in the northern waters of the East Sea, with wave heights reaching 2-4 meters. Areas near the typhoon's center will experience winds of level 8, gusts of level 10, and wave heights of 3-5 meters, leading to rough seas.

Boats operating in the affected areas should be prepared for thunderstorms, strong winds, and high waves.
