The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has indicated that as of 7 AM on August 8, a tropical depression was located at approximately 19.7 degrees north latitude and 108.8 degrees east longitude, over the eastern waters of the Gulf of Tonkin.

The maximum wind speed near the center of the tropical depression is estimated at 6 on the Beaufort scale (39-49 km/h), with gusts reaching up to 8. It is moving slowly southeast at a speed of 5-10 km/h.

Forecast for the Tropical Depression

In the next 12 hours, the tropical depression is expected to:

• Time: 7 PM on August 8
• Direction and Speed: Southeast at about 10 km/h
• Location: Approximately 18.8 degrees north latitude and 110.3 degrees east longitude, near the southeastern area of Hainan Island, China
• Intensity: Gradually weaken to below level 6
• Danger Zone: Gulf of Tonkin, with a disaster risk level of 3

The Gulf of Tonkin is experiencing winds of level 6, gusting to level 8, with waves reaching heights of 1.5-2.5 meters, causing rough seas. The northern and central parts of the East Sea, including the Paracel Islands, are also experiencing strong winds of level 6, occasionally reaching level 7, with waves of 2-4 meters, indicating turbulent seas.

All vessels operating in these hazardous areas should be prepared for thunderstorms, strong winds, and high waves. The tropical depression is unlikely to strengthen into a storm or make landfall in Vietnam.
