Heavy Rain Warning for Northern Mountain Areas
Authorities have issued a warning about the high risk of landslides in several northern mountainous regions

On August 23, 2026, heavy rainfall in Northern Thai Nguyen has caused significant landslides and rising water levels across various roadways, disrupting traffic and posing risks to motorists.
Reports indicate that areas such as Km10+800 on DT.253 in Phuc Loc commune experienced water levels rising over the road, prompting local authorities to mobilize machinery to clear the flow and remove debris. Similarly, at Km48+760 on DT.256, the water level has risen to a point where motorcycles can no longer pass. Officials have set up warning signs and checkpoints to guide residents away from these hazardous areas.
Additionally, landslides have been reported at Km293+450 on National Route 279, causing localized traffic jams. At Km147+800 on National Route 3B, landslides have resulted in debris covering the road. Efforts to manage the situation have included addressing landslides at Km1+900 on DT.252B, while other routes such as DT.251, DT.252, DT.258B, and DT.258C remain open for traffic.
In the aftermath of the natural disaster, local authorities have deployed resources to mitigate the damage. As of now, traffic on the major routes has been largely maintained without prolonged disruptions. However, continued rainfall poses an ongoing risk of further landslides and flooding in vulnerable areas.
