Police to Investigate Suspicious Bank Account Transactions

The Can Tho Police have recently announced an investigation into suspicious bank account transactions after uncovering a case involving a man named N.C.B. In early July, the Economic Security Department of Can Tho City detected irregular activities linked to N.C.B.'s bank account, which raised concerns.

During the police interrogation, N.C.B. revealed that he had opened a bank account due to personal financial needs and a lack of understanding, which led him to sell the account for a mere 1 million VND. Alarmingly, in 2025 alone, N.C.B.'s account was involved in transactions totaling over 100 billion VND. The police are currently verifying the details of this case.

In light of this incident, the police have issued a warning about the potential legal consequences of lending or renting out bank accounts. Such actions may result in administrative penalties or criminal charges under Article 291 of the Penal Code of 2015 (amended in 2025). Additionally, accounts involved in suspicious activities may be frozen, and any related funds could be confiscated. Individuals who sell their accounts risk being placed on a banking system's risk alert list, leading to reputational damage for themselves and their families.

The Economic Security Department of Can Tho City is encouraging the public to remain cautious of enticing offers online, such as “easy jobs with high pay” or “quick online money-making schemes.” Citizens are advised to stay updated on legal knowledge and enhance their skills in protecting personal information.

If anyone notices suspicious activities related to the lending, borrowing, or trading of bank accounts, they should promptly report it to the nearest authorities for guidance and action. Furthermore, individuals are encouraged to inform their relatives and friends about these methods and remain vigilant to prevent any exploitation by malicious actors.
