HCMC – The Government has given the go-ahead to the commencement next week of construction work on four major road projects in southern Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has chosen June 17 as the start date of construction of an expressway connecting Chau Doc City (An Giang Province), Can Tho City and Soc Trang Province, which are in the Mekong Delta, according to a statement which the Government Office has sent to the Ministry of Transport.

Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway will be 188km long. The project will be split into four components with a total cost of VND44,691 billion.

On the next day, work will start on HCMC Beltway No. 3, an expressway linking Khanh Hoa Province and Buon Ma Thuot City (Daklak Province) in south-central Vietnam, and an expressway between Bien Hoa City (Dong Nai Province) and Vung Tau City (Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province) in southern Vietnam.

HCMC Beltway No. 3 will pass through HCMC and three neighboring provinces, with a total length of 76km and a total cost of nearly VND75,400 billion

Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot Expressway has three components, with Khanh Hoa Province responsible for the first with a total length of 31.5km, the Ministry of Transport for the second with 37km and Daklak Province for the third with more than 48km.

The first phase of the 53.7km Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway has three components. Work will start on the first component worth VND6,000 billion on June 18, with Dong Nai Province in charge.
