Viatris and Long Chau Launch Campaign to Manage Lipid Disorders

Viatris Vietnam, in collaboration with Long Chau Pharmacy and Vaccination System, has launched a campaign titled "Community Management of Lipid Disorders" to improve the management of lipid disorders, which are a significant risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. According to the World Health Organization, non-communicable diseases account for approximately 78% of deaths in Vietnam, with cardiovascular diseases being the leading cause.

The campaign aims to address the issue of undiagnosed and untreated lipid disorders, which often go unnoticed until severe complications arise. By enhancing awareness and promoting early detection, the initiative supports national efforts to prevent and manage non-communicable diseases that burden individuals and the healthcare system.

Radhika Bhalla, General Director of Viatris Vietnam and the Asia Alliance markets, emphasized the importance of improving treatment outcomes not just through medication but also by empowering healthcare professionals and fostering strategic collaborations to bring healthcare services closer to the community. The campaign employs a multi-faceted approach, combining professional capacity building, community health education, and patient support activities.

Approximately 1,000 pharmacists from Long Chau will receive specialized training to enhance their ability to provide counseling and support for treatment adherence. Nguyen Do Quyen, Deputy General Director of FPT Retail and Executive Director of Long Chau Pharmacy, stated that community pharmacists play a crucial role in helping the public prevent and manage chronic diseases.

The campaign is set to reach around 3 million people and will include 10 interactive community health activities across five provinces, aiming to raise public awareness about cardiovascular risks and encourage proactive health screenings for lipid disorders. Additionally, Viatris is collaborating with the Vietnam Continuous Training Support Center and the Vietnam Medical Association to provide training for 150 Long Chau pharmacists, updating them on the latest advancements in managing cardiovascular metabolic diseases.

This initiative marks five years of strategic collaboration between Viatris and Long Chau in enhancing the quality of community healthcare. The program highlights the importance of community pharmacists in supporting chronic disease management and aims to improve public health outcomes across Vietnam.
