The admission scores for various university programs in Vietnam for the 2026 academic year have been released, revealing a trend of exceptionally high requirements for entry into popular fields. Many candidates are required to achieve scores exceeding 27 out of 30, with some programs demanding scores as high as 29 or 30.

Among the top performers, the University of Information Technology at the Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City has set a record with its Artificial Intelligence program, achieving a perfect score of 100 out of 100 through a comprehensive admission method, equivalent to 30 out of 30. This marks a historic achievement for the institution.

Similarly, the Data Science program at Hanoi University of Science and Technology closely followed with an impressive score of 29.54 out of 30. The STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) continue to dominate the admission scores across many universities.

In the teacher training sector, the Chemistry Education program at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education reached a high of 29.83, reflecting an increase of 0.45 from the previous year. Without additional points or regional preferences, candidates must average over 9 points in each subject to secure a spot in these competitive programs at top universities.

Despite the use of standardized test scores and additional points from awards or international certificates, the admission scoring systems vary among institutions. Consequently, the admission scores across different universities are not directly comparable.

This year, over 1.2 million candidates took the high school graduation exam, with nearly 875,000 registering for university admissions. On average, each candidate applied to more than eight programs. Successful candidates must confirm their enrollment in the Ministry of Education and Training's system by August 21; otherwise, they will be considered to have declined their admission.

As the educational landscape in Vietnam continues to evolve, the demand for high-quality education in fields like healthcare remains evident, with public medical universities also reporting slight increases in admission scores compared to 2025.
