In a significant enforcement effort, the Da Nang Police have reported the detection of 518 individuals testing positive for drug use in just five days, from August 5 to August 9, 2026. This initiative is part of a 45-day campaign aimed at addressing drug-related issues in the city, which has been marked as a high-risk area for drug activity.

During a recent meeting led by Major General Nguyen Huu Hop, the Director of Da Nang Police, it was emphasized that the security situation in the city remains stable. However, the police are ramping up their operations to manage and monitor foreign nationals, ensure security in various sectors, and implement the directives from the Ministry of Public Security and local authorities.

Over 10,500 individuals were tested for drugs, resulting in the identification of 518 positive cases. This extensive testing aims to profile and categorize individuals at risk related to drug use, contributing to the overall goal of cleansing the area, particularly in complex and high-risk zones.

Major General Nguyen Huu Hop urged local police units to maintain a strong focus on the objectives of the 45-day campaign. He called for increased inspections and strict enforcement against drug-related behaviors. The police are also tasked with closely monitoring local businesses that could be potential hotspots for drug-related crime.

The campaign also includes tackling other forms of crime, such as economic offenses and intellectual property violations. Authorities are advised to enhance their surveillance and reporting mechanisms to effectively manage security issues at the grassroots level. This comprehensive approach aims to ensure a safer environment for all residents and visitors in Da Nang.
