30 Arrested in Major Drug Bust in Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnamese singer and songwriter Tang Nhat Tue, whose real name is Le Duy Linh, was arrested on July 3, 2023, as part of a police crackdown on drug activities in Ho Chi Minh City. The operation led to the detention of 39 individuals, including Tang Nhat Tue, following suspicions of drug use at a hotel.
The investigation began when authorities received reports of drug-related activities at the hotel. Police identified Nguyen Bao An, a 31-year-old individual, as a key supplier of drugs, who was allegedly distributing substances to others, including Tran Nhat Quang, aged 27. The group reportedly operated discreetly, utilizing hotels and rented apartments to evade law enforcement.
During the police raid, authorities seized various drugs, including Methamphetamine, Ketamine, and MDMA, along with drug paraphernalia, 49 mobile phones, four tablets, one laptop, and 14 motorbikes. Preliminary drug tests indicated that many of those arrested tested positive for drug use, including Tang Nhat Tue and another individual, Tran Khanh Duy, who were suspected of organizing drug use.
In addition to being caught in the act, Tang Nhat Tue was also found to be in possession of illegal drugs. Following the investigation, the Ho Chi Minh City police have charged 39 individuals with offenses related to the purchase, possession, and organization of illegal drug use. Nine others involved in the case will face administrative fines and mandatory rehabilitation.
Tang Nhat Tue is a well-known figure in the Vietnamese entertainment industry, recognized for his diverse talents as a singer, songwriter, actor, and music producer, with a repertoire of over 150 songs across various genres including Pop, Rock, R&B, and Hip Hop.
