On August 6, the domestic pepper market in Vietnam continued its trend of stability, maintaining a price of approximately 139,000 VND per kilogram. The trading range across key regions is between 138,000 and 141,000 VND per kilogram, with Gia Lai, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City all listing prices at 138,000 VND. Meanwhile, Dak Lak and Lam Dong are offering higher purchase prices of 141,000 VND and 140,000 VND, respectively.

In contrast, the international pepper market experienced a surprising surge in prices. Black and white pepper from Indonesia saw price increases, trading between 6,813 and 9,328 USD per ton (equivalent to 180,204 VND - 246,726 VND per kilogram), marking increases of 21 USD and 28 USD per ton, respectively. Additionally, Brazilian black pepper prices rose by 200 USD per ton, reaching 5,900 USD per ton (approximately 156,055 VND per kilogram). However, Malaysian black and white pepper prices remained unchanged, at 12,200 USD per ton and 9,300 USD per ton, respectively.

For Vietnam's export market, black pepper of 500 g/l and 550 g/l is priced at 5,970 - 6,050 USD per ton. Notably, the price of ASTA white pepper increased by 50 USD per ton, now offered at 8,400 USD per ton (around 222,180 VND per kilogram).

According to data from the General Department of Customs, the structure of Vietnam's pepper exports in the second quarter of 2026 showed no significant fluctuations. Black pepper and ground black pepper continue to dominate, accounting for 84.1% of the total, up from 83.4% in the same period last year. In the first half of 2026, exports of major pepper varieties from Vietnam increased compared to the same period in 2025, with black pepper showing the largest growth in volume and value, reaching 100,200 tons valued at 651.1 million USD, reflecting increases of 19.1% in volume and 15.6% in value year-on-year.

Looking ahead, the short-term outlook for the pepper market remains relatively balanced, supported by stable export prices from Vietnam and improving supply from Brazil.
