VinFast to Launch New Electric Vehicles in Vietnam by 2027

VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, is gearing up for a busy period with plans to launch a range of new models by the end of 2027. This includes high-end electric scooters and luxury electric cars, showcasing the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in the electric vehicle market.

High-End and Sports Electric Scooters

In January, VinFast announced its intention to introduce seven brand new electric scooter models, focusing on high-end and sports segments. The commercial version of the high-end scooters is expected to debut in the fourth quarter of this year, while the sports models are slated for release starting in the second quarter of 2027.

The high-end scooter line includes three models: Rasad, Sadie, and Saxil. The Rasad features a maxi-scooter design, providing a comfortable riding position and is expected to be powered by a central electric motor with a maximum output of 7,100W, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 100 km/h. The other two models, Sadie and Saxil, are designed with elegance in mind, targeting female customers, and will have a maximum output of 4,500W, achieving speeds of up to 80 km/h.

Sports Electric Motorcycles

VinFast is also planning to release four sports electric motorcycles, featuring naked-bike, cruiser, and supersport designs. The naked-bike models are named Subab and Surad, while the cruiser is called Sudub and the supersport model is Sulad. All sports electric motorcycles will be equipped with a powerful motor capable of delivering up to 50,000W, comparable to a gasoline motorcycle with a 600cc engine, and can reach top speeds of 130 km/h.

Affordable Electric Cars

In the affordable electric car segment, VinFast is preparing to launch three new models: an upgraded VF 5, an upgraded VF 6, and the VF Wild. The VF Wild was recently showcased at an internal event held by Vingroup in Khanh Hoa province, indicating that its market debut is imminent. Unlike VinFast's existing all-electric models, the VF Wild is classified as an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV or REEV). It combines an electric powertrain with an internal combustion engine that functions solely to generate electricity for the battery, ensuring less dependence on public charging infrastructure.

Luxury Electric Cars

By 2027, VinFast also plans to launch two luxury models, the SUV 800S and the sedan 900S, under its independent brand Lạc Hồng. These luxury electric vehicles will be positioned below the 900 LX and are currently available for pre-order at an estimated price of 5 billion VND. Both models will feature a consistent design language with iconic details inspired by Vietnamese culture, such as a grille resembling bamboo and a logo symbolizing a soaring bird.

The interiors of the Lạc Hồng 800S and 900S will utilize premium materials, including Nappa leather and fine wood, with the 900S offering additional luxury features like a private glass partition, a starry ceiling, a large projector for entertainment, and a foldable work desk for rear-seat passengers. In terms of performance, both models will be equipped with a fully active suspension system, promising a smooth ride and comfort for passengers, with a total power output of up to 460kW (equivalent to 616 horsepower).
