Volkswagen ID. ERA 9X: Vietnam's New Electric SUV Under 3 Billion VND

The Volkswagen ID. ERA 9X is poised to make its debut in Vietnam as the first extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) from the renowned German brand. Priced under 3 billion VND, this full-size SUV is expected to be delivered by the end of October. The vehicle is imported from China and has been available for pre-order since early August.

Measuring 5,207 mm in length, 1,997 mm in width, and 1,810 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,070 mm, the ID. ERA 9X positions itself among large SUVs, comparable to luxury models like the BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS. Its design reflects the preferences of the Chinese automotive market, featuring a boxy shape with rounded corners and a minimalist body surface.

The ID. ERA 9X emphasizes comfort and spaciousness, boasting business-class style seating in the front with 'Zero Gravity' design, Nappa leather upholstery, and features like heating, cooling, and massage functions. The right seat in the second row can recline into a bed, enhancing passenger comfort. The vehicle includes ambient lighting with 251 color options and a three-zone automatic climate control system with air purification capabilities.

Entertainment is also a highlight, with individual screens for the front seats and a large 21.4-inch screen for the second row, alongside a 27-speaker surround sound system. In terms of passenger amenities, the ID. ERA 9X rivals, and even surpasses, many luxury competitors in the full-size SUV segment.

Safety features are comprehensive, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 540-degree camera system, and various sensors utilizing ultrasonic, laser, and LIDAR technologies for object detection. The vehicle is powered by a 65.2 kWh battery, offering a range of 406 km on electric power alone, and up to 1,651 km with the assistance of its 1.5-liter gasoline engine acting as a generator.

With a combined output of 510 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque, the ID. ERA 9X features all-wheel drive and eight driving modes, making it a versatile choice for various terrains. The vehicle supports fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 16 minutes, thanks to its 800 V platform.

As Volkswagen's first fully electric offering in Vietnam, the ID. ERA 9X targets consumers looking for innovative technology and comfort, moving away from traditional gasoline-powered experiences.
