Hanoi Issues Warning Against New Scam Targeting Pensioners
Hanoi's Public Administration Service Center has issued a warning about a new scam targeting pension

Vietnam Social Insurance has recently issued a significant warning to the public, advising them to be cautious of fraudulent emails, messages, and calls that may impersonate official surveys. These scams could be attempts to steal personal information, including OTP codes or financial assets.
The agency is conducting a survey to evaluate the satisfaction levels of individuals and organizations regarding the implementation of social insurance policies, health insurance, and unemployment insurance for the year 2026. This initiative aims to gather objective feedback from citizens and businesses on the quality of services provided by the social insurance agency, with the goal of improving administrative procedures and service quality across the system.
During this process, Vietnam Social Insurance has requested provincial and municipal social insurance offices to enhance public awareness about official survey methods while also preventing fraudulent activities that exploit this initiative.
For cases processed through the Vietnam Social Insurance public service system, notifications regarding the results will be sent to the email address registered with the agency. Official survey emails will only be sent from [email protected] and must accompany a notification of the result of the administrative procedure. If an email contains only a survey link without a results notification, it is not an official survey email from the agency.
For citizens interacting directly with the agency, surveys will be conducted via QR codes displayed at the one-stop service desks. For those who have engaged with the support system through Zalo, Facebook, email, or the hotline 19009068, the survey link will be sent from the official email [email protected], the official Zalo account, or the official Facebook page of Vietnam Social Insurance.
Vietnam Social Insurance emphasizes that all survey activities are free of charge. The agency does not request any fees or require citizens to install new applications, provide OTP codes, passwords, bank account information, or transfer money to participate in the survey.
Citizens are particularly advised to be cautious when receiving links from unknown sources or calls and messages impersonating the social insurance agency, requesting account verification, OTP codes, money transfers, or the installation of unfamiliar applications. In such cases, individuals should not follow the instructions and should immediately report to the nearest social insurance office for verification and assistance.
The survey is set to take place in multiple phases from late July to mid-September 2026, utilizing both online and in-person methods. Vietnam Social Insurance encourages organizations and individuals participating in the survey to remain vigilant against impersonation tactics aimed at stealing assets or personal information.
