Northern Vietnam Forecasts Rain for the Coming Week

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has announced that Northern Vietnam, along with Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, will face continuous rain and thunderstorms for the week ahead. The weather forecast for August 2 indicates scattered rain and thunderstorms across these regions, with some areas experiencing heavy rainfall.

Rainfall from 8 AM to 8 PM on August 2 recorded over 40mm in several locations, including 74.8mm at Muong Lan 1 station (Son La), 81.2mm at Da Phuc station (Phu Tho), 99mm at Ngoc Lac station (Thanh Hoa), and 78.8mm at Chau Thon station (Nghe An). It is expected that from the night of August 2, the regions will continue to see scattered rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall amounts ranging from 10 to 30mm, and localized areas potentially receiving over 100mm.

During thunderstorms, there is a risk of whirlwinds, lightning, hail, and strong winds. The heavy rainfall poses an increased risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam. The meteorological agency warns that this spell of rain and thunderstorms may persist for several days.

In contrast, other areas in Central Vietnam are expected to see less rain, with sunny days and no widespread heat expected. The Central Highlands and Southern regions will experience a decrease in rainfall on August 3, but from August 4, rain is expected to gradually return, with some areas experiencing heavy rain in the afternoon and evening.
