Vietnam and Turkey encourage collaboration in the manufacture of electric vehicles.

The Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology accepted the suggestion made by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to encourage collaboration between the producers of electric cars in the two nations.

Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Fatih Kacir stated that the two sides have a lot of potential for cooperation because of their complementing advantages and experiences during a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 30.

Forty-five years since the establishment of diplomatic relations (June 7, 1978 - June 7, 2023), Vietnam - Turkey cooperative relations are increasingly developing well in many fields such as politics, economics, trade, education and culture. The two countries share similarities in protecting and building the country and have a long and rich cultural tradition. Today, both countries are promoting national development and maintaining high growth rates.

Mr. Mehmet Simsek emphasized that the two countries must promote circulation through air connections and facilitate visas. Türkiye will open commercial bank branches in Vietnam. He shared the need to reduce defence measures to facilitate trade cooperation and research the possibility of launching FTA negotiations to create a breakthrough in bilateral trade at an appropriate time, aiming for a trade balance. Turkish businesses are encouraged to participate more in Vietnam's investment and infrastructure development projects.

In addition to agreeing with the Prime Minister's proposal on cooperation in electric car production, Mr Fatih Kacir affirmed that he would promote the development of industrial parks and high technology in Vietnam. "This is a new field but has great potential," he said, saying that the Free Trade Agreement network plays an important role in expanding the market. The two countries need to complete the legal framework to facilitate cooperation.

While Turkey is a country of industry and manufacturing, Mr Fatih Kacir hoped that the two sides would cooperate in many areas of strength such as industry, high technology, automation, defence industry, car manufacturing, remote sensing...

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that with experience operating industrial parks (Turkey has more than 100 high-tech industrial parks), the country will research investment and share management and operating technology parks in Vietnam. The two sides can discuss this issue specifically at the 8th session of the Bilateral Joint Committee.

On the same day, at a meeting with Turkish Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Simsek, the Prime Minister reiterated the proposal that the two sides promote negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
