The trial of Nguyen Danh Dung, a former officer in the Environmental Crime Prevention Department of the Ministry of Public Security, continues in Hanoi as he faces charges for deliberately disclosing confidential information. The case centers around Nguyen Nang Manh, the CEO of MediUSA, who has been accused of producing and selling counterfeit food products, among other charges.

During the court proceedings, Manh disclosed that he had met with Dung on two occasions in April 2025. These meetings were prompted by concerns that his company was being investigated for producing counterfeit goods. Dung, who was tasked with investigating such crimes, allegedly shared sensitive information with Manh, including a message from a superior indicating that six companies, including MediUSA, were under investigation.

According to Manh's testimony, he felt anxious upon learning that his company was implicated and sought Dung's advice on how to proceed. Dung reportedly advised him to reduce production but not to stop entirely, and suggested that Manh dispose of any incriminating documents. Following this advice, Manh instructed his subordinates to destroy all accounting records and data related to the production of counterfeit goods.

At the second meeting, held just two days later, Manh gave Dung an envelope containing 30 million VND, which he claimed was a gift. Dung, however, acknowledged that he had shown Manh confidential messages and admitted that sharing such information was unauthorized.

The court has seen significant developments in this case, which also involves other former customs and health officials accused of accepting bribes. The trial is expected to last five days as more details regarding the production of counterfeit food products and the roles of various officials are examined.
