Lieutenant General Truong Manh Dung has officially taken on the role of Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People's Army. This appointment comes after he spent over a year as the Commander of Military Region 1, showcasing his extensive experience and commitment to military service.

Truong Manh Dung joined the military in 1987 and has accumulated nearly 40 years of dedicated service. Throughout his career, he has held several key positions, including Commander of Division 1 and Division 12, where he played pivotal roles in various military operations.

The General Staff is responsible for commanding and managing the Vietnam People's Army and the militia forces. It oversees the organization and development of these military branches while directing military activities. The General Staff is led by a Chief of Staff, supported by Deputy Chiefs of Staff and various functional departments that handle operations, combat training, and military personnel.

Currently, General Nguyen Tan Cuong serves as the Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and also holds the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense. He acts on behalf of the Minister of National Defense in overseeing the ministry's activities during the Minister's absence.
