Quang Ngai Officials Required to Repay Support Funds

In a recent development in Quang Ngai, the provincial government has mandated that 416 officials and civil servants repay financial support they received after the merger with Kon Tum. This decision comes as part of a review conducted by the local Department of Home Affairs, which identified individuals who must return funds due to early termination of their employment.

According to the resolution passed by the former Kon Tum provincial council, employees who moved to work at the new Political and Administrative Center in Quang Ngai from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, were entitled to a one-time support payment of 25 million VND each. However, those who resigned or were transferred before June 30, 2026, are required to repay the funds unless their departure was due to unavoidable circumstances.

The total number of employees eligible for this support was reported to be 1,630, amounting to approximately 36.8 billion VND in total disbursements. Following the merger, many individuals have changed positions or left their roles, which has triggered the repayment obligations.

Despite multiple reminders from relevant authorities, many of the affected individuals have yet to return the support funds after leaving their positions or transferring to other roles. The Department of Home Affairs is continuing to monitor the situation to ensure compliance with the repayment requirements.
