Director of Agriculture and Environment Criticized Thrice in a Week

The Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee has taken significant action against Ho Trong Phuong, the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, by issuing three official reprimands within the span of a week. This decision comes as a response to his failure to execute critical tasks in a timely manner.

On June 26, the committee revealed that Phuong faced reprimands on three separate occasions from June 19 to June 24. The most recent reprimand, issued on June 24, was signed by Nguyen Hoang Giang, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, who emphasized the need for Phuong to learn from these experiences. He highlighted that Phuong had not proactively implemented necessary amendments to the land price table, which is essential for advising the provincial People's Council.

Phuong is now held fully accountable for any delays that may affect the issuance of resolutions, impacting investment projects and financial obligations related to land. On June 22, Deputy Chairman Do Tam Hien also issued a reminder to Phuong regarding the slow progress in drafting documents related to the land price adjustment coefficient in the province.

Despite repeated directives from the provincial People's Committee and ongoing follow-ups from the office, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has yet to complete its assigned tasks. The provincial committee has urged Phuong to demonstrate a heightened sense of responsibility and expedite the completion of the necessary documentation in accordance with regulations.

Earlier, on June 19, Phuong had already been reprimanded by the Chairman for delays in executing a project related to surveying and updating the land registry, which is crucial for establishing a national land database across 25 eastern communes and wards. These delays have caused significant setbacks in contractor selection and have severely impacted the project's timeline, as well as the overall plan for developing the land database in Quang Ngai province.

In light of these issues, the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee has mandated the Department of Agriculture and Environment to conduct a thorough review of the responsibilities of its leadership team, specialized departments, and consulting units, and to report the findings back to the provincial committee via the Department of Home Affairs.
