General Trương Mạnh Dũng, the Commander of Military Region 1, has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army. This appointment was confirmed by Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng through Decision No. 1118/QĐ-TTg, which took effect on June 22, 2026.

Prior to this, General Dũng was promoted to the rank of Major General and served as the Commander of the 12th Army Corps. His military career began in 1987, and over the past 39 years, he has held various positions, advancing from a squad leader to the commander of a corps.

Throughout his service, General Dũng has demonstrated his capabilities as a knowledgeable and responsible leader, known for his scientific command methods and dedication to his duties. Since January 2022, he has served as the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Commander of the 1st Corps, and from November 2023, he held the same position at the 12th Corps. Under his leadership, both corps achieved significant success in their missions.

General Dũng's contributions have been vital in modernizing the 12th Army Corps, earning him respect and admiration from his peers and subordinates.
