Conflict Between Vendors in Phu Tho Leads to Injury

A troubling incident occurred on June 22 in Phu Tho, where a vegetable vendor, Nguyen Thi Q., was injured after being sprayed in the face with water from a high-pressure hose during a dispute over selling space. The altercation took place between Nguyen Thi Q. and the owner of a seafood stall, Nguyen Thi Th., leading to physical confrontation.

According to reports, Nguyen Thi Q., born in 1963, was selling vegetables in front of the seafood shop when tensions escalated. Witnesses say that the seafood stall owner and her mother used a high-pressure water hose to spray Q. directly in the face, causing injuries to her eyes and right hand. Following the incident, Q.'s son, identified as L., rushed to the scene after hearing about the altercation.

"My mother is still in pain and in shock. She has difficulty sleeping and her eyes continue to water and swell," L. shared. He mentioned that his mother was taken to a hospital in Hanoi for further examination. The family is currently focused on her recovery while also seeking a thorough investigation into the incident.

Witness D., who resides in Xuân Hòa, expressed concern over the use of a high-pressure hose in such a manner. "Regardless of the conflict's origin, using a high-pressure hose to spray someone in the face is extremely dangerous. It’s alarming to see someone injured like that, especially among fellow vendors," she stated.

Nguyen Thi Q. is known to harvest vegetables from her garden and sell them in the area to supplement her income. The incident has raised questions about vendor safety and the need for conflict resolution among local traders.
