A significant development is underway in Bac Ninh, Vietnam, where the world's largest manufacturing plant for sports equipment is set to be established by Johnson Health Tech, a renowned Taiwanese company. This announcement was made during a meeting in August 2024 with the Chairman of Bac Ninh Province.

Johnson Health Tech, known for its high-quality fitness equipment, currently operates six factories in various countries, including the United States, China, Taiwan, and Japan. The company has already invested in a project at the Thuan Thanh II Industrial Park since 2019, covering an area of 10 hectares with an investment of $50 million, achieving annual revenues of $60 million.

During the recent discussions, Johnson Health Tech expressed its desire to establish a second manufacturing facility at the Thuan Thanh I Industrial Park, which would span approximately 20 hectares and require an investment of $100 million. This new plant aims to create a comprehensive production and assembly hub for sports equipment, with a total investment exceeding 1.788 trillion VND, and is scheduled to commence construction on February 19, 2025.

The second plant is expected to be inaugurated in August 2026, enhancing the company's production and assembly capabilities, as well as increasing its export activities from Vietnam. The facility will cover an area of 140,000 square meters and will specialize in manufacturing and assembling treadmills, elliptical trainers, indoor bikes, multi-functional fitness equipment, weight benches, and other sports devices.

Once operational, the plant is projected to produce 300,000 units annually, equivalent to about 39,800 tons per year. Environmental considerations are also a priority, as the plant's wastewater will be collected and treated before being discharged into the central wastewater treatment system of the industrial park. The facility will include systems for treating both domestic and industrial wastewater, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.

Additionally, the factory will implement measures to manage emissions from various production processes, including welding, painting, and surface cleaning. It will feature eight emission treatment systems designed to handle a maximum discharge of 185,200 cubic meters per hour. The emissions will be monitored to meet national environmental standards before being released.

Noise and vibration levels will be regulated, and waste management protocols will be established to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. The plant will include designated areas for hazardous waste storage, as well as facilities for managing general and household waste, while also preparing for potential environmental incidents.
