Man arrested after mocking and assaulting guests with Down syndrome at Disney World bar

According to an affidavit filed by the Orange County Sheriff's Office, a 61-year-old Florida man was arrested after instigating an altercation with four guests at a Disney World resort bar that began after he mocked a woman with Down syndrome.

Brent George was charged with four misdemeanor counts over the January 25th incident at Belle Vue Lounge inside Disney's Boardwalk Inn. The affidavit states that George was intoxicated after drinking three bourbon drinks and a beer at the bar. He allegedly made his way over to a table of four guests and began ridiculing a woman with Down syndrome.

Her mother confronted George and asked if he was mocking her daughter, which is when George stood up and allegedly pushed her twice. He then slapped another guest at the table when she tried to intervene, officials said. The slapped woman's husband joined in, and George was accused of punching him in the neck. George was then punched in the head by the husband, according to the affidavit.

An unnamed bystander intervened, grabbing George and removing him from the scene. Paramedics evaluated George for injuries sustained during the altercation before transporting him to the Orange County Jail after being cleared. If convicted, George faces potential fines and jail time for his role in sparking the assault and disorderly conduct at the family-friendly Disney resort.
