Sun Group's 7.3 Trillion VND Cable Car Project in Vietnam's Coldest Region Updated

The provincial government of Lang Son has approved adjustments to the investment plan for the Mau Son ecological tourism complex and cable car project, which is being developed by Sun Group. This marks the third time the project has been revised since its initial proposal in 2020.

With a total investment of 7.352 trillion VND, the project is set to cover approximately 692 hectares. The first phase, which spans nearly 122 hectares in the communes of Loc Binh and Mau Son, includes the construction of a departure and arrival station, cable car lines, hotels, an event center, commercial services, entertainment areas, and dining facilities. The second phase will encompass over 570 hectares in Mau Son, featuring additional commercial and recreational facilities, hotels, and cultural sites.

The project's objective is to create a resort area that offers health care, entertainment, ecological tourism, and cultural experiences reflective of the northern mountainous region, aiming to attract around one million visitors annually. The first phase is scheduled for implementation from the second quarter of 2026 to the second quarter of 2031, with the completion of ground clearance expected by 2026 and the cable car facilities anticipated to be finished by the second quarter of 2028.

The Lang Son provincial government has emphasized the importance of this project for the local economy, highlighting its potential to effectively utilize the tourism resources of Mau Son, thereby enhancing tourism, commerce, and employment opportunities for local residents. Mau Son, located about 30 kilometers from Lang Son city, is known for its cool climate year-round and is often subject to frost and snowfall during winter, making it a unique destination for tourists.
