Indigo clothes – a part of Nùng culture
Traditional costumes have been the pride of the Nung ethnic community in Yen Sơn District in the northern
Tho traditional dress consists of a long blouse worn over a long skirt, made of white, green or brown fabric. The blouse has a round neck, buttons in front, and two long and tight sleeves.
The highlight of the traditional rustic-looking costume is the skirt made of cotton yarn and dyed indigo, with stripes running across the fabric. When worn, the horizontal stripes form parallel circles on the skirt which are very eye-catching.
The outfit of the Tho women is worn with a green and yellow sash and a square head scarf, which harmoniously complements the dress.
