Vietjet to launch HCMC-Melbourne service in late March

HCMC – Local budget carrier Vietjet Air has announced a plan to launch a new air service connecting HCMC with the Australian city of Melbourne starting from March 31, with three weekly flights.

The carrier is expected to increase the number of its flights on the route to seven from December 2024, a representative of Vietjet said at a meeting with a delegation from Australia’s Victoria State.

Flights will depart from the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while flights from the Melbourne Airport will take off on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Speaking at the meeting, Tim Pallas, Victoria’s Minister for Trade and Investment, lauded the Vietnamese carrier’s decision to launch the service between HCMC and Melbourne.

The new service is expected to contribute to boosting travel, trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, said a Vietjet leader.
