The Mẫu Sơn Ecotourism Complex project, located in Lạng Sơn province, has recently been adjusted for the third time, with a total investment exceeding 7.352 trillion VND (approximately $315 million). This ambitious project is expected to significantly boost tourism in the area, which is recognized as the coldest region in Vietnam.
According to the decision from the Lạng Sơn Provincial People's Committee, the project is being implemented by Sun Group, a prominent investor in Vietnam's tourism sector. The project will be developed in two phases. The first phase covers an area of 121.8 hectares in the Lộc Bình and Mẫu Sơn communes, featuring a cable car station, hotels, event centers, and various entertainment and dining facilities.
The second phase will expand the project to approximately 570.46 hectares in Mẫu Sơn commune, including additional commercial services, recreational areas, and a wildlife rescue center. The total funding allocation for phase one is 4.898 trillion VND, while phase two is set at 2.454 trillion VND.
Currently, the project is making progress in land clearance, with the first phase scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2031. The timeline includes completing legal procedures and construction of the cable car station and other essential facilities by the end of 2028.
Local authorities have emphasized the importance of this project in enhancing the tourism potential of Mẫu Sơn, which is famous for its scenic beauty, cool climate, and rich cultural heritage. The adjustments made to the project are expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy and attract more visitors to the region.
