On September 1, a touching ceremony took place in Bắc Ninh, where seven couples renewed their wedding vows, creating a beautiful memory for their families. This event was initiated by Đức Linh and Hương Trà, who wanted to honor the past sacrifices of their grandparents and relatives.

The ceremony was held in the courtyard of their home in Yên Dũng, where decorations of happiness adorned the space. Seven men, holding flowers, walked their wives to the stage to exchange rings and receive newly issued marriage certificates from local authorities. This was a particularly special moment for the 93-year-old couple Nguyễn Thị Cử and Vũ Văn Tiện, who wore wedding attire for the first time.

“Thank you, my children and grandchildren, for organizing this wedding for us. I am very happy,” said Nguyễn Thị Cử, as tears of joy filled the eyes of the six couples present, including their children. Lê Hương, 53, holding hands with his wife Vũ Sen, the youngest daughter of Nguyễn Thị Cử, expressed, “If there is a next life, I would still choose to marry her.”

Initially, Đức Linh and Hương Trà planned to take the family for a photo shoot to create lasting memories. However, due to the limitations of a studio and the challenges of moving elderly family members, they decided to organize a wedding ceremony at home instead. The family originally aimed to hold the event during the Lunar New Year in 2026 but opted for the September 2 holiday to gather relatives from Đắk Lắk, Bắc Giang, and Hà Nội.

The couple took charge of planning the event, while other families handled the rental of wedding attire, flowers, and catering. Six families approached the local government to obtain replacement marriage certificates that had been lost or faded. The family prepared a symbolic marriage certificate for Nguyễn Thị Cử and Vũ Văn Tiện.

On August 31, the wedding venue was set up, and neighbors were curious since there were no single individuals left in the household. However, once they learned about the celebration, they offered their congratulations. The night before the wedding, the family prepared a feast and held a cultural exchange.

The next morning, the family reenacted traditional wedding rituals, including the flower exchange and welcoming the bride. A highlight of the ceremony was when the grooms knelt to present rings to their wives. “Seeing our grandparents and parents smiling brightly made all the preparation worthwhile,” Hương Trà remarked.

According to Đức Linh, this event served as a tribute to the elders, allowing the younger generation to appreciate the sacrifices made by their predecessors and cherish their current lives. The couple, who work in Hà Nội, frequently return home on weekends. Their extended family, consisting of nearly 70 members, has a tradition of traveling together annually. Recently, due to the declining health of their grandparents, they have shifted from long trips to family gatherings at home. Plans for future family events are underway to maintain their tradition of family reunions.
