Hon Tranh is one of 10 islands and the largest surrounding Phu Quy island, Binh Thuan. This location was previously known as a military base protecting island sovereignty and has become an attractive tourist destination not to be missed when travelling to Phu Quy.
The beloved name Tranh was named by the people based on a plant species that grows a lot here and there, tranh grass. In the past, people on Phu Quy Island often came here to get tranh grass for roofing their houses, so they named this beautiful island Tranh Island.
Tranh Island retains its simple, idyllic, wild beauty, unlike many other modern and busy tourist islands. Towering cliffs surround this place; at the foot are rocky outcrops lying close together, sometimes rising out of the water, soaking in the cool water. The clear sea water of Tranh Island reveals schools of fish frolicking around colourful coral reefs. In the distance are small boats of local fishermen gliding across the green sea to start a new fishing trip. The beauty of human labour has harmonized the district with natural beauty, creating a poetic scene.
If you depart from Ho Chi Minh City, you can take a bus, or if you want to save money, you can take a motorbike to Phan Thiet Port. Then, take a speedboat to Phu Quy Island. Because Tranh Island is about 800m from Phu Quy Island, you can easily move to Tranh Island by canoe or small boat. However, you must also monitor the weather and rough seas to ensure safety when travelling to this island.
The ideal time to travel to Tranh Island and Phu Quy Island is generally around June to December every year because this is the period of favourable weather and calm sea surface, making it convenient for travelling and activities on the island.
At each time of the day, Tranh Island has its beauty. But coming to the island and not watching the sunrise on the island would be a pity, right? Take advantage of waking up early to enjoy the beauty of Tranh Island in the early morning!
As mentioned before, Hon Tranh is a relative tourist destination with entertainment venues and high-end resorts. This place is only for those who love simple, rustic beauty and want to mingle with nature. With the advantage of being bestowed by Mother Nature with poetic beauty with blue sea, white sand and fresh air, this will be the ideal place to become a great check-in location.
In addition, when coming to Tranh Island, you can participate in swimming, boating, fishing or scuba diving activities to immerse yourself in the beauty of the "world" under the sea. All will bring you an unforgettable experience at Tranh Island.
Hon Tranh is a small island and still simple, so there will be few shops or restaurants. However, when you come here, you can enjoy freshly caught seafood such as shrimp, crab, squid,...
Currently, there are no accommodation facilities on Tranh Island. Therefore, tourists will return to Phu Quy Island to stay after visiting Tranh Island. You should also book a room in advance to avoid running out of rooms!
Because Tranh Island is only a small island, there will be few places to have fun, so visitors can spend more time visiting Phu Quy Island.
