The launch of the nationwide sports movement for 2026 took place in Hanoi on October 10, 2026, under the theme "A Moving Nation, A Healthy Vietnam." The event was attended by representatives from the government, various ministries, local authorities, and thousands of citizens, including youth, students, and athletes.

This initiative, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with VTV and the Hanoi People's Committee, aims to promote regular physical activity among the population. During the two-day event, activities were held at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and Hoan Kiem Lake, allowing citizens to engage in various sports and interact with prominent athletes.

At the event, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra emphasized the importance of health in national development. She quoted the late President Ho Chi Minh, stating, "A strong nation requires healthy citizens." The Deputy Prime Minister called on every Vietnamese citizen, regardless of age or occupation, to choose at least one sport that suits their abilities and to engage in regular practice.

With nearly 12,000 participants in Hanoi and around 100,000 across 33 provinces and cities, the launch aimed to inspire a culture of fitness and well-being. The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that sports should become a joy for individuals and an essential part of family life, fostering a vibrant and healthy community.

She urged local authorities and organizations to create accessible and safe sports facilities, encouraging a self-motivated and sustainable approach to physical activity among citizens. The event reinforced the government's commitment to prioritizing health and fitness as a foundation for a prosperous and dynamic Vietnam.

In conclusion, the nationwide sports movement not only aims to enhance physical health but also to instill a sense of community and collective strength, contributing to the overall well-being of the nation.
