The local authorities in Bình Định have conducted an investigation into claims made on social media that a primary school teacher assigned students over 10 pages of homework in a single night. The claims, which circulated widely on October 2, suggested that students at Bình Định Primary School were under significant pressure due to excessive homework assigned by their teacher, identified as Q.T.M.H.
Following the allegations, the Bình Định People's Committee requested the school administration to clarify the situation. On October 6, the committee's chairman, Lê Quốc Cường, reported the preliminary findings of the investigation. It was confirmed that the teacher did not distribute any homework exceeding the normal amount, and none of the 41 parents interviewed reported any such assignments.
The investigation revealed that the Facebook account responsible for the claims was found to be anonymous and not associated with any parents of the students in class 5A3. The school and local authorities are continuing to investigate the matter to ensure accurate information is provided to the public.
This incident highlights the ongoing discussions about the balance of homework in education, with many parents expressing concerns about the pressure placed on young students. While some believe that homework is essential for learning, there is a growing call for a reassessment of the quantity assigned to avoid overwhelming students.
