Police Investigate Teacher Accused of Assigning Excessive Homework

On October 3, authorities in Bình Định, Gia Lai, confirmed that they are investigating a complaint regarding a fifth-grade teacher at Bình Định Primary School who was accused of assigning an excessive amount of homework. The complaint, which surfaced on social media, claimed that students were given over 10 pages of assignments to complete in one night, causing undue pressure on them.

During discussions with the school's administration and the teacher, Q.T.M.H, it was determined that the allegations were unfounded. The local government stated that the police had traced the complaint back to an anonymous Facebook account, which was identified as a fake profile and not associated with any parents of the students in class 5A3.

According to the school's leadership, the teacher explained that some students had not completed their classwork and were given the opportunity to finish it at home. This practice was not intended to pressure students into additional study, as they already attend classes twice a day.

The issue arose when a Facebook account named 'Connecting Love' posted about the homework load, which included copying lessons and preparing new material. The post suggested that while assigning homework is necessary, the volume should be moderated to avoid stressing students.

The account further claimed that students were not allowed to play during breaks and had no time to rest after lunch before continuing their studies until bedtime. The local authorities are continuing to investigate the matter and will take appropriate action if the claims are proven false.
