Long Nhat, a 58-year-old Vietnamese singer, is under investigation for two drug-related offenses in Ho Chi Minh City. He is accused of purchasing narcotics for personal use along with two others at his apartment over several days. At the time of his arrest, authorities found that he still had illegal substances in his possession.
The investigation, conducted by the Ho Chi Minh City Police, has led to a proposal for the prosecution of Long Nhat for organizing illegal drug use and possession. Alongside him, eight other individuals are implicated in related charges, including drug trafficking and possession.
Long Nhat, who gained fame in the 1990s, is known for his sentimental, homeland, and revolutionary music. He is beloved for songs such as "Several Bamboo Bridges," "My Hair in a Chicken Tail," and "At Both Ends of Longing." The singer's legal troubles began on March 23, 2026, when he allegedly asked his driver, Kieu Quoc Nha, to procure 500,000 VND worth of crystal meth. Nha, who had drugs on him, provided them to Nhat, who then took them to his apartment in Tan Tao Residential Area.
There, he reportedly shared the drugs with his associate, Do Minh Giang, using a glass pipe. A few days later, on March 26, Nhat hired a man named Duc to provide a massage and was informed that he would bring along more drugs for Nhat's use, which he accepted and paid for.
On March 27, police noticed suspicious behavior from Kieu Quoc Nha, leading to a search that uncovered drug paraphernalia and 0.6 grams of narcotics. As the investigation widened, police invited Long Nhat and a friend for questioning, where drug tests confirmed Nhat's positive result for narcotics. Further searches at Giang's location revealed additional drugs linked to Nhat.
During the investigation, Long Nhat and his associates admitted to their actions. Additionally, on March 20, Nhat had arranged through Nhut to purchase 500,000 VND worth of crystal meth, which he used alone in his bedroom.
