Over 10.2 Million Youth Participate in 2026 Volunteer Campaign

After more than three months of implementation, the 2026 Summer Volunteer Campaign has attracted over 10.2 million youth members, successfully completing all nine targets set for the initiative. This year, many volunteer activities were marked by the application of technology and a strong focus on border areas.

On September 28, a conference was held in Thai Nguyen to summarize the campaign, combining in-person and online participation from various provincial and local youth organizations across the country.

Attendees included Bui Quang Huy, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and First Secretary of the Central Youth Union; Nguyen Minh Triet, a member of the Central Committee and Secretary of the Central Youth Union; and other notable leaders.

Campaign Overview

The 2026 Summer Volunteer Campaign ran from May 23 to August 31, under the theme of significantly innovating the operational methods of the Youth Union.

This year, 248 border communes were identified as key areas, aligning with the project “Vietnamese Youth Accompanying Youth in Border Areas from 2025 to 2030.”

Throughout the campaign, 1,423 volunteer teams were established, engaging over 116,000 youth members and volunteers. The total resources mobilized and funding for the campaign exceeded 87 billion VND.

Digital Transformation in Volunteer Activities

A notable innovation this year was the launch of the Digital Map for the Green Summer 2026. This platform supports the updating and systematization of information regarding volunteer teams, operational areas, projects, and resources, enhancing management and operational efficiency.

Bui Quang Huy emphasized the organized and innovative nature of the volunteer activities, which were planned from the outset based on the principle of “3 Easy - 3 Clear - 3 Measure.” The campaign also saw over 700,000 stories and historical witnesses shared online, with AI technology used to restore images of fallen soldiers, creating a positive impact in the digital space.

Challenges and Future Directions

Despite the successes, Huy pointed out some limitations, including uneven coordination at some local levels and the need for activities to be more aligned with community needs. He called for the volunteer movement to continue evolving, focusing on six key tasks, including ensuring the completion of projects and enhancing the role of youth in political development.

He reiterated the importance of monitoring and evaluating the impact of each project, ensuring sustainability and effectiveness in volunteer activities. The conference concluded with the recognition of outstanding contributions from various organizations and individuals involved in the campaign.
