The Vietnamese government is restructuring its police education system by merging multiple police academies into six main institutions. This decision was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Lê Tiến Châu on September 18, following a directive from the Prime Minister.

The six academies that will remain include the People's Security Academy, the People's Police Academy, the Political Academy of People's Security, the Academy of Security Technology and Engineering, the International Academy, and the Fire Prevention and Rescue Academy. The People's Security University will now operate as a branch in Ho Chi Minh City of the People's Security Academy, while the People's Security College I will also merge into this academy.

Similarly, the People's Police University, along with the People's Police Colleges I and II, will be incorporated into the People's Police Academy. This restructuring is part of a broader effort to enhance the quality of education and training for law enforcement personnel in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister has tasked the Minister of Education and Training with issuing related decisions to ensure that the newly organized institutions continue to provide education and grant degrees to current students, safeguarding their rights. Each year, the police education sector enrolls over 2,000 regular university students, with this year's admission scores ranging from 17.14 to 24.42, based on a combination of graduation exam results and assessments from the Ministry of Public Security.
