BENGALURU: A horrifying incident unfolded in JP Nagar 3rd Phase on Thursday morning when a 26-year-old nurse, identified as Madhumitha, was allegedly chased and attacked by her husband, Venkatesan, with a machete and acid. The attack occurred around 9:15 AM as Madhumitha stepped out to have breakfast near her workplace, a private clinic.

According to police reports, Venkatesan, who arrived on a motorcycle, was armed with a knife, a machete, and acid. He pursued Madhumitha into the clinic's parking area, where he attacked her with the machete before throwing acid at her. The sudden assault sent onlookers and passersby fleeing for safety.

Madhumitha managed to raise an alarm, prompting hospital staff and local residents to intervene. Some bystanders attempted to protect her by throwing stones at Venkatesan, who also tried to attack them in his frenzy. Fortunately, traffic police stationed nearby noticed the commotion and apprehended Venkatesan as he attempted to escape.

Madhumitha sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital. Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, questioning Venkatesan to determine the motive behind the attack. This shocking event has raised concerns about domestic violence and the safety of women in the community.
