According to a recent announcement, citizens in Vietnam can now visit local police stations nationwide to request the collection and updating of their DNA information, regardless of their place of residence. This initiative is part of a new administrative procedure implemented by the Ministry of Public Security.

The Minister of Public Security has signed Decision No. 5230/QĐ-BCA-C06, which outlines the new administrative procedures, including the collection and management of biometric data, specifically DNA, for national identification purposes.

Steps for Updating DNA Information

• Step 1: Submit Required Documents
  Citizens must prepare the necessary documents as per legal requirements and visit their local police station or designated administrative offices. They can also submit their applications online through the National Public Service Portal or the VNeID application.
• Step 2: Processing and Results
  Upon receiving the application, police officials will verify the legal status and content of the documents. If the DNA information already exists in their system, the local police will coordinate with relevant units to analyze the sample and update the data within seven working days. If the information is not available, citizens will be guided on how to collect the necessary samples.

This new procedure is designed to enhance the efficiency of personal identification processes and ensure accurate data management in Vietnam's national database.

Citizens are encouraged to take advantage of this service during working hours from Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.
