Hanoi to scale down Lunar New Year fireworks to prevent Covid-19

Hanoi has announced plans to hold a fireworks display at five designated locations throughout the city on the evening of September 2, 2026, to celebrate National Day. This event is expected to attract both locals and tourists, enhancing the festive spirit of the holiday.
The fireworks will be launched from the following locations:
The fireworks display will feature both high and low aerial fireworks, with a total of 3,700 high-altitude fireworks planned. Each of the two locations in Hoan Kiem will use 800 fireworks, while the other three locations will use 700 each. Additionally, 390 low-altitude fireworks will be utilized, with 60 setups at each of the two Hoan Kiem locations and 90 setups at the other three sites.
The fireworks show is scheduled to take place from 9:00 PM to 9:15 PM on September 2, 2026. To ensure safety, the Hanoi People's Committee has assigned the Capital Command to oversee the construction of the launch sites, transportation, installation of fireworks, and execution of the display according to plan.
The city police will also coordinate to maintain security and public safety during the event, including fire prevention measures.
Local authorities in Hoan Kiem, Tu Liem, Tay Ho, and Hai Ba Trung are responsible for promoting cultural and artistic activities for residents in the vicinity of the fireworks displays, ensuring cleanliness, lighting, and support in case of any emergencies.
With five locations spread across the central and western areas of the city, the fireworks program on the evening of September 2 aims to create a joyful atmosphere for both residents and visitors during the National Day celebrations.
Attendees are advised to plan their arrival times, choose suitable viewing spots, and arrive early to avoid congestion. Families with young children should keep a close watch on their kids and limit the number of bulky items they bring for easier mobility.
