Fireworks Celebrate 50 Years of Ho Chi Minh City

On the evening of July 2, Ho Chi Minh City lit up the sky with a stunning fireworks display to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its name, which honors President Ho Chi Minh. The festivities began at 9 PM, with fireworks launched from 16 different locations throughout the city, marking the significant milestone of the city's renaming in 1976.

The fireworks show lasted for 15 minutes and was funded through social contributions. Among the key locations, the area near the Saigon River Tunnel featured the largest display, with 1,000 high-altitude fireworks and 200 low-altitude fireworks, complemented by 78 various types of firework setups.

In addition to the Saigon River Tunnel, other notable locations for the fireworks included the New City Center in Binh Duong, Tam Thang Square in Vung Tau, Cu Chi Tunnels, and the coastal tourism area of Can Gio. Thousands of residents gathered at parks and along the riverbanks to witness the breathtaking spectacle.

Prior to the fireworks, a 3D mapping performance was held at the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee headquarters, attracting a large crowd. Teams from France and Vietnam showcased a vibrant display under the themes 'Half a Century of Pride - The Rhythm of Saigon,' 'Echoes of Great Vietnam,' and 'The Era of Rising.' The performance featured modern interpretations of traditional cultural art, including a famous Dong Ho painting reimagined with contemporary elements.

Overall, the celebration was a grand tribute to the city's history and its journey over the past five decades, bringing together residents and visitors in a moment of unity and pride.
