The Traffic Police Department (Cục CSGT) has clarified its approach to enforcing safe distance regulations on Vietnam's highways. According to a statement released on August 31, the department will only take action against drivers who deliberately tailgate, particularly focusing on commercial transport vehicles.

Over the past five days, the Cục CSGT has been monitoring driver behavior on several highways. They reported that most drivers have begun to understand the importance of maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle in front of them. However, there are still instances where drivers, especially those in the transport sector, fail to comply with these safety measures.

A representative from the Cục CSGT stated, "We have deployed personnel to monitor video footage of vehicles that do not maintain a safe distance. We will only penalize those drivers who intentionally engage in tailgating, particularly those operating commercial transport vehicles." This enforcement is being carried out on highways that meet safety standards, with appropriate signage and road markings indicating safe distance requirements.

The primary goal of this initiative is to educate drivers about the importance of adhering to speed and distance regulations. The Cục CSGT aims to instill a sense of responsibility in drivers, encouraging them to make safe distance maintenance a habitual practice.
