The Traffic Police Department of Vietnam has reported the discovery of 45 instances where drivers were found to be operating commercial vehicles beyond the legally allowed driving hours. This revelation follows a directive from Major General Do Thanh Binh, head of the Traffic Police Department, aimed at scrutinizing and addressing violations in the transportation sector.

Over a three-day period, the department monitored 516 vehicles and identified these violations through electronic data from vehicle tracking systems. The cases of drivers exceeding the allowed driving hours have been forwarded to relevant units for further processing as per regulations.

In addition to the primary violations, authorities also noted other infractions, such as vehicles equipped with tracking devices that were not operational and drivers failing to use identification cards. The Traffic Police Department emphasized the importance of utilizing data from tracking systems to enhance the detection of violations and to support timely enforcement actions against drivers who exceed allowed driving hours. This initiative aims to mitigate the risks of traffic accidents caused by driver fatigue.

Moving forward, the department plans to intensify the use of tracking data to promptly identify violations and relay this information to patrol and traffic control units, as well as local police, to ensure strict compliance with regulations. This effort is part of a broader strategy to improve the management of commercial transport operations and ensure road safety.
