In a bid to remind drivers of the importance of maintaining safe distances on highways, a bus driver has taken the initiative to display a sign that reads 'Stay 60m Away' on the back of their vehicle. This creative warning method has been recognized by the Traffic Police as a commendable effort to enhance road safety.

On August 28, representatives from Team 3 of the Traffic Police Department reported that they continue to implement patrols and monitoring plans to enforce traffic laws. Their focus is on ensuring compliance with regulations regarding safe driving distances, particularly on the highway route from Thanh Hoa to Hanoi.

The Traffic Police are prioritizing the enforcement of laws against speeding, using mobile phones while driving, and not adhering to safe distance regulations. Between August 26 and the present, Team 3 has issued fines to nine bus drivers for failing to maintain adequate distance from the vehicle in front on the highway routes, including Phap Van - Cau Gie - Cao Bo - Mai Son - National Highway 45 - Nghi Son. Drivers caught violating these regulations face fines ranging from 4 to 6 million VND and a deduction of two points from their driving licenses.

Since the Traffic Police have intensified their checks and enforcement actions against drivers who do not comply with safe distance regulations, there has been a noticeable decrease in violations. Previously, many vehicles were seen closely tailing each other, which posed a significant risk for traffic accidents.

Interestingly, during the two days of enforcement, the Traffic Police received images from the public showing drivers warning each other to maintain safe distances to avoid penalties. In one instance, a bus driver was seen with a sign on the back of their vehicle instructing following drivers to keep a distance of 60 meters.

This behavior is not considered illegal and is viewed as a positive form of warning that encourages drivers to pay more attention to safe distances while traveling on highways. A representative from the Traffic Police noted that the awareness among drivers has significantly improved, which will contribute to reducing violations and preventing traffic accidents due to inadequate spacing on highways.

In addition to placing warning signs, drivers are also actively reminding each other of the penalties for not maintaining safe distances. The Traffic Police have a systematic approach to monitoring and addressing violations regarding safe distances on highways. They utilize surveillance cameras and reports from drivers to identify violators, subsequently stopping vehicles at toll booths for enforcement.

The Traffic Police emphasize that their primary goal is not merely to issue fines but to prevent accidents and foster a culture of legal compliance among all road users.
