With the National Day holiday approaching, the volume of vehicles on Vietnam's highways is expected to increase significantly. In response, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) is intensifying its monitoring and enforcement activities to ensure road safety.

On August 29, traffic police units conducted checks on several highways, resulting in the documentation of six violations. Notably, three of these violations occurred on the Phap Van - Cao Bo - Mai Son - National Route 45 - Nghi Son route, where one driver was penalized for not maintaining a safe distance, while two others were cited for driving in emergency lanes. The CSGT also reported that from August 26 to the present, they have processed 19 cases related to the failure to keep a safe distance.

The enforcement of safe distance regulations is crucial, especially during the holiday period when traffic is heavier. Maintaining appropriate distances allows drivers more time to react to sudden changes in speed or unexpected situations on the road. Despite some violations, authorities noted that most drivers are adhering to lane discipline, speed limits, and safe distances, with a decrease in reckless behaviors such as speeding and lane changes.

Looking ahead, the CSGT plans to continue raising awareness and enforcing traffic regulations, particularly regarding safe distance maintenance, to prevent accidents. Furthermore, starting March 1, 2027, practical driving tests will include assessments of various skills, such as compliance with traffic rules, observation, and safe distance management, reflecting a shift towards evaluating real-world driving capabilities rather than just technical skills.

The CSGT encourages all drivers to follow lane regulations, adhere to speed limits, maintain safe distances, and comply with the guidance of traffic police while traveling on highways.
