On the evening of August 29, 2026, Southern Vietnam, along with parts of the Northern Central region and the North, is expected to face thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has reported that certain areas could see rainfall exceeding 80mm.

According to the latest updates, areas such as An Giang have already recorded significant rainfall, with measurements reaching 128mm. The forecast indicates that rain will be concentrated in the evening hours, impacting agricultural activities and possibly causing damage to infrastructure due to strong winds, lightning, and hail.

In the North, from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh, the rainfall is expected to range from 15 to 30mm, with isolated areas experiencing heavier downpours. Meanwhile, the Central Highlands and Southern regions are anticipated to receive 10 to 30mm of rain, with localized heavy rainfall exceeding 70mm.

Residents are warned about the risk of flash floods in small rivers and landslides on steep slopes due to the expected heavy rains. The weather conditions may also lead to power outages and increased fire hazards due to rising electricity demands during this period of severe weather.

In contrast, the Central region is currently experiencing a heat wave, with temperatures soaring between 35 to 38 degrees Celsius. This heat is expected to continue for the next two days, raising concerns about heat-related health issues and fire risks in residential areas.
