On August 27, 2026, coffee prices in Vietnam continued to decline, with an average price of 96,300 VND per kilogram, marking a decrease of 800 VND compared to the previous session. The drop in prices is observed across major coffee-producing regions, as reported by giacaphe.com.

In Dak Lak, coffee was recorded at 96,200 VND/kg, also down by 800 VND. In Lam Dong, prices fell to 95,700 VND/kg, the lowest among the surveyed regions. Gia Lai reported prices at 96,200 VND/kg, while Dak Nong had the highest price at 96,500 VND/kg, a decrease of 700 VND.

This recent decline follows two consecutive sessions of price drops, moving away from the 98,000 VND/kg mark and approaching the 96,000 VND/kg range. The USD/VND exchange rate, as noted by Vietcombank, was recorded at 25,880 VND/USD, down by 10 VND.

Global Coffee Prices

On the global market, coffee prices have also seen a significant decline. According to Barchart, the December 2026 Arabica futures contract closed on August 26 at a reduction of 13.35 US cents per pound, equivalent to a 3.98% drop. Similarly, the November 2026 Robusta futures contract decreased by 77 USD per ton, or 2.09%, reaching its lowest level in about a week.

The decline in global coffee prices is attributed to increased supply expectations from Brazil, leading to selling pressure in the futures market. Some warehouses in Brazil have stopped accepting new coffee due to limited storage space, raising expectations that farmers may need to sell more coffee to the market.

Market Insights

The drop in domestic coffee prices by 700-800 VND/kg coincides with the global market's downturn. After a 500 VND/kg decrease on August 26, the market has lost an additional 800 VND/kg on August 27, indicating that the pressure for adjustment is ongoing.

Barchart noted that Robusta prices are under pressure as certified Robusta stocks on the ICE reached a nine-month high. In contrast, certified Arabica stocks remain low, but this factor has not been sufficient to halt the declining trend of Arabica prices in the recent session.

In terms of exports, the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported that in July, Vietnam exported approximately 147,600 tons of coffee, valued at 639.5 million USD. For the first seven months of the year, coffee exports totaled around 1.2 million tons, a 10.8% increase in volume, although revenue decreased by 11.2% to 5.45 billion USD. This trend is primarily due to an average export price drop of 19.9% compared to the same period last year, now at 4,537 USD per ton.

Weather forecasts from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting indicate that on the day and night of August 27, the Central Highlands region may experience clouds, scattered rain, and thunderstorms, with potential for strong winds and lightning.
